Heavy Duty Adjustable Hitch Mount Truck Bed Extender with 1000 lbs Capacity and Anti-Rattle Stabilizer

I have a Ford F150 with a medium length bed and with the tailgate down an 8 ft. piece of lumber is just shy of the end of the tailgate. I had to be careful hauling something about 12 ft. long to make sure it didn’t fall off or break. I saw this extender and thought it would be a good solution for hauling longer items. Upon opening the box I was impressed with the parts. Each one was wrapped in plastic. The edges on each piece are are smooth and no there are no sharp corners. The opening where the pieces slide together have plastic edges to prevent scratches. There is 1/16th thick plastic sheet glued to the edge where items would sit. There are three red-white reflective stickers for visibility too. Assembly was easy. The product page shows 2 wrenches are included, but there was only one in my package. Don’t use the included wrenches anyway. You’ll need “real” wrenches or sockets (13mm) to make sure the clamps are tight enough at the joint. The maximum distance from the back of the bed to the extender is about 11′ 3″. After installing it on my truck I set a 12ft. long carpet roll on it second picture). The extender doesn’t quite match the height of the tailgate. It sits 35″ off the ground and the tailgate is 32″. As far as the 1,000 lbs. rating, my pickup is rated for 1,700 lbs. total, so there is no way I’d have 1,000 lbs. at the point of the extender so I’m not worried about breaking it. I would only use this for carpet, vinyl siding, or lumber. I’m impressed with the quality of the welds, the power coating, and how smoothly the parts slide together. The price seems comparable to other extenders too.
